Laura Sonnen Cutchen with Cotton&Kudzu

My first memory of painting was the joy of swirling paint on paper with my fingers in kindergarten. . .

Laura Sonnen Cutchen is the owner and floral designer at Cotton&Kudzu; a floral and art gallery in the heart of beautiful, historic Eufaula, Alabama.

Laura is a mixed media artist and enjoys creating with a variety of repurposed and ordinary objects.  Laura's passion is adding textures to her work using recycled papers, water mediums, acrylic, and inks applied with brushes, pens, and of course her fingers!  As a professional floral designer, flowers are naturally her constant inspiration which is evident in her artwork.

Here are some of Laura's thoughts and experiences about art's effect on her life and work ~

My art has evolved, but the joy is still there.  I do not consider myself a serious artist, but rather an artistic maker.  As I work I ask myself what can I do to make this more interesting, and that is when the fun begins!  I tend to paint only what makes me happy with hope that my work will make someone else happy as well.
